We have the pleasure to inform you that Government of India has included "the inclusion of Application for re-issuance of International Driving Permit (IDP)" as one of the Consular Services provided by Missions/Posts abroad.

IDP helps the Indian Citizen to drive vehicle which is allowed to drive as per Indian Driving Licence, in foreign country, which are the signatory of Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, 1949. Niger is also the signatory of Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. The issuance of International Driving Permit revised rules shall come into effect w.e.f. 15 February 2021.

The process will involve the following steps:

(i) Applicant will visit Mission/Post and fill the Miscellaneous Consular Service form to avail consular service. Embassy of India, Niamey will be charging a fee of US$ 10 + ICWF charges (or equivalent amount in FCFA) towards accepting the application of re-issue of International Driving Permit.

Embassy of India, Niamey will issue a receipt to the applicant with following details on it:

(a) Name of the applicant as per Passport;

(b) Expired IDP number of the applicant;

(c) Consular Officer certifying that applicant is the same as per passport photo on the expired IDP and is holding a valid domestic driving licence issued by GoI; and

(d) QR Code/service number/receipt number.

Applicant will directly apply for fresh issue of IDP through the portal www.parivahan.gov.in and will upload the documents, including the receipt issued by Embassy of India, Niamey. The applicant will pay the requisite fee online on the web portal. On receipt of application through the portal, the licencing authority, on verification of the documents, shall issue the IDP and shall courier it directly to the address of the applicant. Thus, the role of the Embassy is limited to issuance of the receipt.
