Handing Over of Medicines to Government of Niger.

Government of India has sent life saving medicines for fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and other essential medicines to the Government of Niger. It may be mentioned that the shipments are in the nature of Donation and a Gift from the people of India to the people of Niger.

In a formal ceremony held in the Warehouse of the O.N.P.P.C. on 24 August, 2020, the Second Consignment of essential medicines in 13 shipments containing 6,233 kgs of Medicines from DHL India, was handed over by Charge d' Affaires Shashi Joshi to Mr. Bawan Allah Gobey, Deputy Secretary General of the Miinstry of Public Health, Government of Niger in presence of Dr. Abdoul Karim Katambe, Director General, O.N.P.P.C. Charge d' Affaires addressed the gathering. Thereafter, Mr. Bawan Allah Gobey, Deputy Secretary General thanked Government of India and conveyed the gratitude of the Government of Niger for this important donation intended for differed health structures in Niger.

It may be recalled that the First Consignment of Medicines containing (Hydroxychloroquine and Paracetamol) sent by the Ministry was handed over by Charge d’Affaires Shashi Joshi to Mrs. Sourghuia Mariama, Director in charge of Organizing Healthcare, Ministry of Public Health, Government of Niger, in a small function held in the Chancery premises on 28 May 2020.

Thus Government of India has donated 6375 kgs of Medicines to Government of Niger. Total value of all medicines comes to about US$ 40,000 or FCFA 23 million.  The ceremony was covered by the National Television and the local newspaper 'Le Sahel'."
