151st Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi

On 2^nd October 2020, in the morning, Ambassador paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi Statue installed at Mahatma Gandhi International Convention Centre in Niamey. In the evening, a Program was held at the Chancery where members of Indian Community & local friends attended this Program. In his Address Ambassador spoke about Mahatma Gandhi, his leadership qualities, legacy and philosophy and its relevance in current times. Videos of Gandhiji’s favourate Bhajan ‘Vaishnav Janto’, sung by the renowned Nigerien ‘Sogha Group’ and the collage of Africa singers brought out by MEA were screened. Short documentary films provided for the occasion by ICCR on the life of Mahatma Gandhi were also screened. Children from the local Indian Community presented poems and songs on Mahatma Gandhi. About 55 people attended the Program
